Summit 2018 in Review

The AM in Canada gathered from September 24 - 26 for our 2018 National Summit. After 6 years of generous hospitality provided by Jericho Road Church in Port Alberni the Summit was moved to Cedar Springs Christian Retreat Centre where housing, meals and meetings could all be hosted in one location, encouraging significant relational connections with our friends from across Canada and indeed the globe.

This years’ theme was Replicate: Raising and Releasing Evangelists - part of our Micro-Macro vision for Kingdom ministry that includes a 4 fold emphasis on raising disciplers, evangelists, mentors and planters. We heard about diverse evangelistic expressions from across the Mission - including evangelistic ministries to the urban poor and homeless, ministry to seniors, and of recent immigrants who were freed from various forms of modern-day slavery in our nation. We were also encouraged by a renewed vision for developing leaders in the Mission in ways that are relational, discerned and practiced within existing local parishes, and released with a focus on individual gifting and calling. And as has been the case for several years now, the participation and sharing of our international partners was a significant blessing, with spiritual fathers and mothers from southeast Asia, Rwanda, the Congo, Tanzania, USA, Haiti and India sharing with us in the Summit.

In addition to the various Summit sessions, this years Summit included a service of ordination of Mark Story to the diaconate, the installation of Rev. Edmund Ho as Canon for Community Development and Rev. Philip Tse as Canon for Clergy Formation, and the consecration of Peter Klenner as a bishop for theAM in Canada - each marking the ongoing growth and apostolic ministry of the Mission in Canada.

Be sure to mark your calendars for next years’ Summit: May 29-31, 2019 at Cedar Springs Christian Retreat Centre.
